One thing ive had on my mind is how hard Fox and RWM are pushing to conflate a “crime wave” with this summer’s protests when really any rise in crime is more likely to do with the double digit unemployment and will likely get worse with the upcoming tsunami of evictions.
The solution to this is not “flood the streets with cops” it’s passing really basic protections that would act as a safety net and keep people stable but our “leaders” are too afraid of being called commies or actively trying hard to strip the meager protections already in place.
We’re already seeing it but on the other side of this there will be a massive revival on “tough on crime” attitudes, the rhetoric around protests will likely be used to crack down on offenses that become more common in an economic crisis, when ones survival is at stake.
Unemployment numbers only count people actively looking for work, not discouraged workers. A drop in UE can signal a contraction in the work force and given the scale of the crisis we’re in it’s likely and something to keep in mind if anyone ever brags about UE going down.

BREAKING: Migrants sent to Martha's Vineyard by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have filed a class action lawsuit against Florida officials seeking "compensatory, emotional distress, and punitive damages." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
Suit argues that officials “intentionally conspired to confine the individual Plaintiffs to the aircraft that transported them to Martha’s Vineyard,” and impeded the migrants “participation in the federal immigration processes to which they are constitutionally entitled"
According to the suit, migrants did not learn they were going to Martha's Vineyard until shortly before the plane's landing.
Mini thread on a really good example of how Tucker twists news stories to suit his narratives. Here he claims that undocumented immigrants are responsible for an influx of automatic weapons into the US. Tucker plays a clip of a horrifying shootout in Houston as an example.
Here's the thing though. I can't find any evidence that the perpetrator, Deon Ledet, was an undocumented immigrant. abc13.com/deon-ledet-wil…
Furthermore, according to Houston police, the weapon Deon used was not an imported automatic weapon but a weapon illegally modified using an auto switch abc7.com/houston-police…
