As the child of Irish Immigrants growing up in 80s & 90s UK, let me tell you that the thing that stops immigrants loving the country that they were born and brought up in is how a certain section of society very vocally HATES you for who you are & your ethnicity &/or religion 1/
My parents tried to make me feel Scottish, we lived near Hampden Park ( national stadium) My dad took me to Scotland games, I remember the fans booing when Celtic players touched the ball & shouts of fenian bastards ( that has changed now amongst the Scotland support) 2/
in the last ever then-annual Scotland Vs England Game in 89 a Scotland Fan poured a full can of lager over me for the crime of wearing a Celtic top in my own estate, I was 9 years old, the smell and texture of the lager made me feel sick, loads watched, no one tried to stop 3/
My mum went looking for him, with me in tow, hes a very lucky scumbag that she never found him, I was lucky enough to have a Scottish surname, but i remember even kids of Irish descent locally calling me an Irish bastard when we fell out because I was first generation Irish 4/
I remember regular jokes about the Irish on TV & pricks like garry bushell regularly writing Anti-Irish comments in his columns, I watched all birmingham 6 & guilford 4 docs at my fathers feet & saw the hatred, that these men were locked up for their accent, that my dad had 4/
I could go on & on... it was stuff like this that made me refuse to colour in a union jack flag in school in an activity where we coloured-in flags, I couldn't bare the sight of it & what it to me it represented, this was primary school so I was under 10 5/
now to my point , no one can deny that there is a massive issue with "islamic" extremism.. but look at the stats of who is behind many of these atrocities, they are often born & bred in that very same western country & are children of immigrants or orphans of "war" 6/
Apart from creating that kind of future for Ireland, the thing is .. just don't be dicks to each other, paedophila & violence etc was here long before immigration, my cousin was murdered (I strongly believe) by a weekly Catholic mass attender, maybe confession helps him sleep 7/
maybe hes content he is going to heaven now that he has confessed to a priest & done his penance, I do know his priest at the time spoke to him like shit publicly manys a time and was otherwise a very kind man 8/
anyway im going off track & long winded, let people believe what they want to believe in & hopefully they don't impose those views on others, and Ireland is not full, Dublin may be, Donegal certainly isn't, I cant speak for the other 30 counties /9
at the end of the day we are all clinging to a globe spinning thru space for a very short time in the scheme of it, lets not cling on to our bit of rock& try kick others off of it, anyway my love to all except for those who cling to hate, as they only understand one language /end
