So here's some personal news:

My publisher PublicAffairs and I are working on a new edition of Rise of the Warrior Cop. It will include a new introduction, conclusion, and two new chapters. It should be out early next year.

An aside: The book has sold very well since the Floyd protests. And that of course is encouraging. But it's also an uncomfortable thing to personally benefit after a horrific event like the Floyd killing sparks protests and puts these issues back in the news.

So . . .

. . . I'm going to donate half of this year's royalties from the book to three terrific organizations. My literary agency @RossYoon has also agreed to donate their commission for the book for this year. And my editor Colleen Lawrie is making a generous donation . . .

. . . which will be matched by Hachette, the parent company of PublicAffairs.

I'll make my donations in April, when I get my royalty check for the second half of the previous year.

It feels a little crass to tweet about donations. But I hope in this case, doing so might encourage others to donate too -- particularly those who, like my wife and I, haven't been hit as hard by the generally awful state of things right now (knock on wood).
