I AM SORRY!

I stumbled on a short animated video clip yesterday on a WhatsApp group titled "I am sorry" and ever since I have been thinking on that short sentence "I am sorry".
After thinking seriously on that simple statement, I think many of us need to say I am sorry for too many things we have done. We need to say I am sorry for countless opportunities we have abandoned. We need to say I am sorry for the responsibility we have failed to carry.
We need to say I am sorry for the relationship we have let go. We need to say I am sorry for the hurt, disappointment and betrayal we have caused others. We again need to say I am sorry for our selfishness, ego and pride.
The political class need to say I am sorry for the destinies of young ones they have mortgaged and the many "No Future Ambition (NFA)" they have helped to create among our youths.
It is surprising that the same ruling class that we used to read about and watch on our televisions when we were still in primary school are still the same ones ruling now even after saying to us in a loud jeering that we are the future of tomorrow then.
Till today, that future has never arrived. They have no belief in us as regards taking over. There was even a time in Nigeria when the youth leader of a political party was a man who was a little above seventy years old.
Take a cursory look at the present set up and point to any youth. Where are the youths? I think enough is enough for them to come and say we are sorry, for we have mortgaged your destinies.
The religious circles too are not left behind from saying to our young ones that we are sorry. They should be sorry for not teaching us enough. They should be sorry for their selfishness of not sharing the spoil of the war with us, which made us cry for our own territories...
... where we can have our own share.
They need to say I am sorry for not seeing something too good in the youths to give them opportunities to explore their potentials. They need to be sorry for giving them carrot and still holding the stick. They need to be sorry for not believing that the youth too can take charge.
Our Spiritual Fathers taught us about Joseph that became prime Minister at the age of 30, the exploits of David as a king at the age of 30, the spirituality and order of Josiah that became king at 8 years, the fierceness of John the Baptist in facing the Pharisees of his days...
and even the influence of Jesus Christ at 30 years and many others but when it comes to the time to practicalize what they have taught, that is when you will hear statement like 'these youths are not ready, 'these children will destroy what we are labouring for',...
...'these youths are too carnal, they will not follow the orders of our founding fathers' among others.
Don't be surprised, these are true realities that have affected the Youths. What will they prepare for when there are no challenges to handle? The fathers on this table need to come & say we are sorry, now we believe in you, we will give you the opportunity while we guide.
The educational sector need to say I am sorry. The teachers, lecturers, professors, and all the players in this sector need to say I am sorry for the way they are strategically and technically destroying the destinies of tomorrow's leaders. No thorough challenges.
It is either molestation of the female students through sex for grade, or abuse of power concerning the boys as they are needed to 'runs' things if they must have good grades.
Is it the lecturer that right now still uses the same material he used to teach me in year one when I was in higher institution seventeen years ago? No improvement or additional research, just word for word.
Great mess have been created by these players, it is deep that it will take another decade to fully sanitize the system if the procedure begins today. Let them say I am sorry!
The parents need to say I am sorry too where it is necessary. Where they have been wrong in their parenting style, where they have allow their mental pressure to get toll on the children, where they have not developed their spiritual direction, ...
where they have not counselled enough, spent enough time with the children and left them off to be catered for by the society. They need to say I am sorry.
The teenagers and youths too need to say they are sorry for the missed, abused, misused and unused opportunities. They need to say they are sorry for not taking responsibility enough instead of playing a blame game. They need to say they are sorry for thinking they are not wrong.
They need to humbly admit their mistakes, "I know it all" attitude, faults shifting and negative attitude. They need to say I am sorry to their parents for letting them down. They need to say I am sorry to their spiritual Fathers for making them believe they are not ready.
They need to say they are sorry even to the political class not anymore shall we allow you mortgage our future again, we are now taking the future in our hands. There are too many things they need to say they are sorry for.
You see, everyone has a role to play in salvaging the lives & destinies of our young ones if we must have a productive results. The decadence is deep but not beyond correction. We can always have opportunity to make amends & also prevent the reoccurrence of these sad situation.
We can begin to plan for our succession to boost the confidence of the youths to have the believe they too are in the race.
