Forty years ago today, at 10:25 precisely, neo-fascists bombed Bologna Centrale train station killing 85 people and injuring more than 200. A timer bomb in a suitcase destroyed the waiting room & much of the train standing at platform 1, the worst atrocity in Italy since the SWW

Three members of the neofascist Nuclei Armati Rivoluzionari were eventually convicted after years of trials, mistrials, cover-ups & obfuscation including links to the powerful P2 masonic lodge; even today unresolved rumours link the bomb to Carlos the Jackal & the PLO
Like so much of the years of lead we may never really know the whole story
But court cases continue to this day and slowly new evidence may emerge: the true instigators - those who planned the attack rather than its executors - have never been identified.
