Apparently Gove dated a distant in-law of mine at Uni. He and she went out partying one night then returned to in-law's mum's gaff. Over breakfast the next am Gove said to mum: "J, I gather you collect porcelain?" and proudly produced a loo seat he'd skip dived for en route home.

a slight smirk). And Gove doesn't really know what to say - he can see me cheerfully enjoying his discomfort - and so stutters and deflects. Sands pushes on: "But did you actually tear it up, Michael?" And eventually he's forced to come clean: "some stories grow in the telling."
