Massively exciting to see radical schemes we’ve been working on with boroughs coming to fruition, delivered through @TfL ‘s #StreetSpaceLDN @willnorman. Here are just some of our highlights: Image
The Lee Green LTN, which we worked on with @LewishamCouncil throughout autumn and winter, engaging residents and helping deliver London's largest LTN in an area blighted by through traffic @OctaviaLewisham @JamesARathbone @SophieMcGeevor
In @LewishamCouncil, construction started on the Deptford Parks Liveable Neighbourhood, with a permanent school street, modal filters, continuous footways & street art. We have been working with @deptfordfolk since 2017, with @TfL funding received in 2018
Walworth is another borough's first LTN, in this case @lb_southwark. We have been working with officers and @GSTTCharity to develop a child-led design which tackles air pollution and physical inactivity @Livingstone_RJ
A huge announcement from @LBSouthwark is the part pedestrianisation of Bermondsey St: a legacy project on #Quietway14, as well as a key recommendation of the feasibility report we prepared with @BermondseyStLdn, underpinned by our first disability audit london-se1.co.uk/news/view/10345
The wonderful new Dulwich Village in @lb_southwark is also a legacy of #Quietway5, and the result of many years of campaigning and community engagement, with the filters initially proposed by residents at our co-design workshops in 2015
Further down the road on #Quietway5, @wandbc, @lambeth_council and @clphmcommonMAC have filtered Windmill Road, removing a busy rat run through one of London's main green spaces @clairekholland. We first ran pop-up engagement events here in 2015!
In @wandbc, we've also helped deliver emergency school streets, allowing physical distancing when schools reopened
Lots more projects we've worked on have been funded through #StreetspaceLDN, including Rosendale Road, Hillside LTN & Peckham-Streatham in @lambeth_council, LTNs in @EalingCouncil, @harrow_council and @RedbridgeLive. We look forward to seeing these on the ground very soon
Huge congratulations to councillors, officers & campaigners involved in delivering these schemes incredibly quickly during unprecedented times, enabling people to walk and cycle, freeing capacity on public transport and on roads, as well as allowing businesses to quickly recover
We look forward to continue our work with partners, ensuring these temporary schemes can become permanent, helping to shape a happier, healthier city for everyone
