@MandereJohn 1. They pay quite a lot. But sometimes very little too. They pay you based on impressions (CPM - when people view an ad for more than 1 sec - this is low - $0.01 to $0.50), they also pay you per click (CPC - when people click an advert - this can be as high as $2-$8 a click).
@MandereJohn 2. Things that determine cost are how many people compete for ad space on your site. Sites that are read in Zim have low CPC & CPM because very few advertisers are selling anything to that market. Its mostly Japan cars & religious stuff. However sites read in the UK&USA fetch $$$
@MandereJohn 3. For that reason I used my journo skills to start a niche site about physical elements inside cameras. I have another one that reviews iPhones. These fetch quite a lot as the keywords have high competition - more bidders - higher CPC & CPM.
@MandereJohn 4. To place it into perspective, I can make $300 in a day from 80-100 views on the niche sites. But on my news sites, I can make $1000 from a million views in a whole month. Niche sites are flooded too. So your content has to be better.
