Informative comic about "violent" vs. "peaceful protesting" by Ana Piranha. (I have some thoughts about this too, which I will post at the end of this thread) 1/

I've been watching activists "peacefully protest" after each new police murder for *years.*

It wasn't until things were on fire that the national media paid attention. That's the world we live in.
"Peaceful" protests are still happening in cities all over the US but you won't see them on the news, because it's not attention-grabbing enough.

Meanwhile, we have to talk about how disingenuous it is to categorize vandalism as "violence."
ESPECIALLY when that vandalism is directed at something that's deeply, violently immoral, like a construction site where a prison for children is being built.
When you categorize this as "violence," you are telling those who are experiencing harm how it is and is not acceptable for them to express pain, and threatening to hurt then even more if they don't express it correctly, according to you.

It's abusive. *This* is violence.
p.s. This comic artist isn't on twitter but they are @ana_piranha_ on IG ✨
