Shree Kanchi Kamakshi - A Devi with immensely beautiful eyes.

Kamakshi para Devta have two devis lakshmi and saraswati as her two eyes. She is one who with her 2 eyes fulfils wishes of her devotees. She is said to be the mother of creation.

Kanchi kamakshi is that peetam where Mata sati's NAABHI part has fallen. This place has extreme heat and place if fire. She is given 3 Abhishekas with Cow's milk, Chandana and kumkum mixed with paneer or water. She is very bright as a Poornima chandra.

Her eyes are never covered with any golden or silver made eyes attached. Her eyes are so bright, and looks very much real. They say on every Poornima maatas eyeballs have movements as if she is seeing the whole universe with love like a mother.

She is said to be most beautiful among all and called Tripurasundari. She has other names Rajarajeshwari Devi. She is also called Jagathjanani. In very olden days she was a Ferocious form. She was ugra kaali earlier. It is said that she took that serious form to end Bhandasura.

Kamakshi Devi in Garba Griha is in Padmasana Posture with four Hands. The Top two Hands hold the Paasam and Ankusam. The other two hands hold Sugarcane and Flower Arrows of Manmatha.

Bhandasura was an asura born from the ashes of Kaamdev. He attained the vikruti asura avtar with apaara powers because those ashes had Shiva's 3rd eye powers. It is said that kamakshi had a war with the asura for almost a 1000 years and more.

When bhandasura harassed Devas then Devas and other divine beings took the form of parrots to perform penance in Kanchipuram under Champaka Tree and prayed to Parashakthi lalithambika. They prayed to Shiva and asked for solution.

Then shiva guided them about doing a mahayagnya and call Shri adishakti. He also said to offer the body parts into the yagnya., which the devas started performing yagnya and offering their body parts into fire.

Then in some time a beautiful goddess with immense power and red Rays around started coming out of fire. She is Shree lalithambika the paradevta parashakti. The Tripurasundari mother of 3 lokas.

She is one who resides in the Manidweepa and chintamani gruha.
She took form and started to take help of goddess present in her shree chakra ratha.

Goddess in the form of young girl as Bala Tripurasundari killed Bhandasura sons. Bhabdasura had 30 sons. She killed all of them. Goddess Lalithambika succeeded in killing Bhandasura with Mahakameshwara asthma and he was laid below Kamakshi Temple and pillar was laid JAYASTHAMBA

Vishwakarma was called and a gayathri Mantap was designed with 24pillars representing 24 syllables of Gayatri mantra. A simhasan was built over which she sat and asked the devas to close the doors pray and open the next day morning.

The next day when doors opened she was in her shanta rupa with beautiful smile and padmasana posture. She was called kamakshi one with beautiful eyes who Grant's boons to devotees with her eyes.

The idol is supposed to be Swayambhu which means it was not created but it appeared. Her idol is not exactly seated on the stone or asana. She is said to be in the static form floating in the air. She is believed to be in the temple in three Swarupas – Sthula, Sukshama, Shunya

There is Bilakasam on right side of inner sanctum, not visible to outer world. Bil means cave and ‘akasam’ means space or sky. A foetus in the womb gets its nourishment through the umbilical cord, all living beings in this entire Universe get their requirements from this Bilakasa

Shri aadi shankaracharya has installed Shri chakra upasana vidhi to perform the shanta padhati pujas to the goddess. Any temple with dakshinachara padhati has a srichakra upasana as primary. A yoni shaped Shri chakra installed with 8 vagdevis surrounding the chakra - Bhoochakra

Rajasyamala is one of the Devta present here having a veena in hand and said to be important Devtas in the sanctum. Varahi the senapati is said to be present in the gayatri mandapa. Kshetra palakas are purna pushkala sametha ayappa. Annapurna is also said to be present.

A pillar called as SANTANA STHAMBHA is present where it is said to be Naabhi sthana of maata. This place when touch with finger seems to be smooth like and kumkum is seen in that place. Santana lakshmi is seen on the top of the Sthamba. santana ganapati is also seen inside.

Amman is said to be only shtree devta for all the shiva temples in Kancherpuram. There are no parvati idols in shiva temples at Kanchi. Those who want a turning point in life are said to be advised to take her blessings. Kanchi is 1 of 7 Mokshapuris in India. One & only in south
