That, sooner or later, the power sharers of Pakistan will fall out of step with each other is a foregone conclusion. This has been Pakistan’s political history. Examples 1)ZAB went rogue after the Tashkent declaration. 2)MNS went rogue in 1993.When will it happen again is guess work
There is a difference between the examples.Z A Bhutto became a PM because of going rogue when he was Foreign Minister while Mian Nawaz Sharif went rogue as a PM with his famous ‘dictation nahin loonga’ speech on TV in 1993. It cost him his Govt but earned him political longevity
To my mind, if Mian Nawaz Sharif had not gone rogue in 1993 he would have lost his political ground/support and relevance by the normal end of his term in 1995.That would have been it for him and PMLN. As it is, in 2020, MNS is more relevant than ever. Times ahead are interesting
Another example that comes to mind is that of the then PM Muhammad Khan Junejo who was literally an appointed PM.Appointed by the then powerful Gen ZIa Ul Haq.He was a docile politician with no real support but he too went rogue on the handling of the inquiries of the Ojhri Blast
Muhammad Khan Jumejo lost his Govt and his position of Prime Minister as the President of Pakistan(Zia in this case) was armed with the now defunct Article 58(2)(b) of the Constitution which meant ‘call a press conference and announce dissolution of the National Assembles et all’
Article 58(2)(b) vested in a President the powers to do away with a Govt by just a discretionary press announcement.Presidents were thus manipulated.Ghulam Ishaq Khan used this power twice, Farooq Legahri used it once and then the 18th Amendment eliminated this Presidential power
There is a purpose of these tweets. It lies in the fact that the bright youth of Pakistan that is even say 30 years old now have no direct knowledge of the past political history of Pakistan. Small readings of threads like this thread can help the youth understand their country
