A common myth is that right-wingers only have one joke. This is both unfair and untrue; in reality, they have six. The question is, which six? Let's take a look.
JOKE #1: "My pronouns are [not pronouns]/I identify as [absurd thing to identify as]. Entry-level right-wing humor. Basic bitch shit, they issue you this joke the first time you log into Reddit.
JOKE #2: "[photograph of person joke-teller thinks is odd or unusual-looking in some way] This is how they're going to win the revolution, folks." An improvement on Joke #1 only insofar as you have to know how to upload an image, a minor but important barrier.
JOKE #3: [Image of pre-20th century cultural product] + [Image of contemporary cultural product] contrasted in such a way as to make the latter look undesirable. Requires ability to post TWO images and have a poor understanding of history. Moderately advanced coursework.
JOKE #4: [Reference to alleged failures of communism/socialism]. Very basic in terms of reach, but requires some background instruction. Should only be attempted in presence of a supervisor.
JOKE #5: "[Reference to some minor or extremely ordinary cultural phenomenon] This is the future liberals want." Pretty basic stuff but requires at least a passing familiarity with 21st-century American life. Improved with practice, like a tennis swing.
JOKE #6: "This is a real [name of liberal person, event, or phenomenon known or believed to be embarrassing] moment!" A.K.A. the Half-Miller. Requires both functioning memory & degree of cultural familiarity. Should only be attempted by experts. Still not actual funny joke.
So there you have it! I believe this to be representational if not comprehensive; feel free to contribute your own examples of right-wing humor, but bear in mind that the reactionary mind can only contain nine concepts at any given time.
