1/4 Looking forward to going to Brussels next week for Round 7 (sic) of the UK/EU negotiations with @EU_Commission

2/4 As always, we go in good faith to talk constructively about all the issues. Our assessment is that agreement can be reached in September and we will work to achieve this if we can.
3/4 As we keep saying, we are not looking for a special or unique agreement. We want a deal with, at its core, an FTA like those the EU has agreed with other friendly countries, like Canada.
4/4 The UK's sovereignty, over our laws, our courts, or our fishing waters, is of course not up for discussion and we will not accept anything which compromises it - just as we aren't looking for anything which threatens the integrity of the EU’s single market.

1/6 The next round of talks with the EU begins on Monday 29 June.  This is the start of the intensified process. We have published the agenda:

2/6 For the first time since March we will meet face to face, in Brussels. We look forward to welcoming the EU team to London the week after.
3/6 These meetings will be smaller and focused on seeing whether we can begin to make genuine and rapid progress towards an agreement.  We will go to Brussels in good faith to engage with the EU’s concerns.

1. We have just finished a constructive Round 2 of negotiations with @michelbarnier. Here is the UK statement. Thank you to all those on both sides 🇬🇧🇪🇺 who made the Round work in these extraordinarily challenging circumstances.

2. If we are to make progress now, we need to focus on agreeing a future relationship that has a comprehensive FTA at its core, like those the EU has agreed elsewhere.
3. We support high standards. But there is no need for novel and unprecedented "level playing field" rules, for example tying us to EU laws, or a role for the EU Court. What the EU proposes is unlike anything agreed in other such FTAs and we will not agree to it here.
