How Adani & others looted, plundered the nation thro the coal import scam? This specifically explains d Corruption evidences against Adani & others to tune of 6066 Crores in TN Electricity Board filed by Arappor (1/14)
Btn 2012 & 2016, TANGEDCO purchased 2.44 crore ton of imported coal from Adani Global Pte Ltd,Knowledge Intl Strategy Systems Pte Ltd, Chettinad logistics Pvt Ltd, MMTC Ltd & MSTC Ltd. Out of this, 49% coal orders were given to Adani Global Pte Ltd (1.19 crore ton) alone (2/14).
CAG observed that while the turnover fixed in tender was NIL & Rs 281 crore for other PSU such as TNPL & NTECL,TANGEDCO fixed turnover criteria of Rs 1000 crore even for Rs 68 Crore tender value. Ensured Adani & 3 others can alone participate.(3/14)

This thread explains d illegal appointment of Mr Jarard Kishore as member, TamilNadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) by TN Govt . This appointment will greatly affect the independent nature of the institution & will push TANGEDCO further into deep sea (1/15)
TNERC is a regulatory body deciding on not only our tarriffs but also disputes btn tangedco & pvt power companies.Its headed by chairperson & 2 members with powers of a civil court judge to hear cases. Appointment to this post is as per sec 84 & 85 of Electricity Act, 2003 (2/15)
We need to focus on 2 sections. Section 84(1) says that the person selected must be of integrity. Section 85(5) says that the selection committee must be satisfied that the person does not have financial or other interests prejudicial to affect his functions as member (3/15)

Thread on Underreporting of Covid Deaths in TN: We hv been hearing news of people dying in our relatives friends etc. Yet the Govt kept declaring deaths of only 400 to 500 max/ day in May 2021. Therefore, Arappor did this study on deaths for April & May 2021.
Arappor had chosen 6 hospitals where we had complete data of death certificates issued for all 3 yrs for 2019,2020 and 2021 for months of Jan to May so that we can compare with both previous months as well as previous years. The 6 hospitals are below
While comparing actual deaths with previous months & yrs, we see a surge in Apr & May 2021. While d average deaths in earlier months as well as in same months of previous years were roughly 2000/ month, the no of deaths increased to 3009 in Apr 2021 & 8690 in May 2021 for 6 hosp.

Thread on F Tender by CM's Highways Dept: 2 events happened over d last month. A Contractor calls me & says not to proceed on Corruption in Rs 494 Cr Tender. A day b4 opening of Rs 494 Cr tender, 2 ppl come to our office in d guise of inviting me to a rotary event.
After few mins, they said they hv been sent by highway engineers abt thanjavur tender.This is d same tender that was prefixed to JSV infra that we cancelled last month. It was refloated & d nexus wanted to ensure b4 opening of tender that @Arappor does not raise this issue again.
I advised them abt Indian Constitution, law of d land & they went back! Next day, hours b4 d tender was due to be opened, sent an email to Highways Secretary on how d tender has again been prefixed to JSV Infra at 11.33 Am. Tender was opened on 12th Jan at 3.15 Pm (1st tweet)

Thread:Good news: TN Information Commission orders penalty of Rs 25000 to be deducted from Chennai Corp Exec Engr Victors salary & also orders Corp Comm to take disciplinary dept. action on Victor & Superintending Engr Vijaykumar for not furnishing info under RTI to Arappor
While we shd be happy that this will act as a deterrent to many public information officers who refuse info under RTI, the ordeal behind this order will show how diff people get together to protect the corrupt. I filed a RTI on 31/07/2018 seeking information on a road tender
This tender was awarded to SP Builders whos said to be close to Min.S.P.Velumani. Velumanis close aide firm KCP Engrs & SP Builders compete in 3 tenders of Busroute roads in 2015 of which 2 were won by KCP& 1 by SP. Theres clear collusion btn the 2 firms on pricing & many factors

Thread: This thread explains how Edappadi Palanisamys Highways Dept is involved in huge tender frauds. 2 area based comprehensive road improvement strengthening & maintenance contracts for laying and widening thanjavur roads worth Rs 656 Cr & Rs 494 Cr were floated in Oct 2020
Many roads in excellent conditions were included for maintenance for 5 years. One wud think that d cost of maintaining good roads will be lesser than usual. However, while earlier tenders had cost of Rs 1 Cr/Km, these 2 tenders were given Rs 3.15 Cr/Km & Rs 1.95 Cr/ Km resp.
Rs 656 Crore tender was due to be opened on Nov 18 at 11 Am and Rs 494 Crore tender was due to be opened at Nov 19 at 11 Am. Our CM keeps repeatedly saying that these r e tenders and that no ones knows who participates in these tenders until they r opened.
