I have a fairly solid understanding of USPS operations dating back over a decade, for: reasons. Here are a few reasons not to trust anything the PM General is doing right now:

• He claims he's saving $ by eliminating overtime. But mail volumes vary WILDLY; USPS uses overtime when vols are high to avoid overstaffing when volumes are low; ie, OT can save money.

• Low mail volume is temporary. Ballots will boost it again. And if you're cost-cutting, you don't waste manpower removing temporarily extraneous mailboxes and sorting machines.

• USPS DOES need reforms. It does. And some of what the PMG's doing now might be good business practice in different times. But right now we're facing COVID and the ELECTION! Gutting your outdated kitchen may be a fine idea -- but not while family's visiting for Thanksgiving.

So hold this guy's feet to the fire. Democracy is at stake. The USPS -- an institution expressly enabled in the Constitution, whose first Postmaster General was Benjamin Franklin – is an indispensable, even noble, institution. It's under attack. It deserves to be defended.
