2/ We don’t control the world. We can’t. Off in some cave in a remote province of China, deep in a crevasse, a bat was sleeping away when suddenly, in a vein, a tiny virus molecule mutated. How tiny? 20,000 of them could sit in your throat and you would not feel them.
3/ Within a little more than a year, 5 million Americans would become sickened by that virus. 160,000 of us--and more than a million of our fellow humans world-wide--would die a terrible death from that virus. So far.
4/ We don’t control the world. A second tiny thing – a shrunken and distorted brain – descended a golden escalator in a golden tower and directed its body to lumber to a microphone and to begin speaking...
5/.. Out came lies, insults, and racist bilge -- a moral sewage that still seeps into the land, poisoning the souls who drink the fetid fluid passing through its lips.
6/ This second tiny thing is so fascinating that for years every day it captivated the airwaves and the newspapers. Why are we so drawn to this vicious, viscous stupidity?
7/ This second tiny thing is more dangerous than the virus. The virus can kill the body. This tiny brain’s excrescences will kill the soul.
8/ We’re drawn to its bilge because it revels in the forbidden. Whatever it wants, it takes. Just takes. Life without morals. Life without ever registering the existence of anyone else....
9/.. Life that chooses its own facts and dismisses anything that could ever impede its endless taking. Life that surrendered, decades ago, to endless greed.
10/ Study its face. At first all you see is the mask. Two hours each morning it commits to mask-creation. The mask of eternal virility....
11/...And yet, sweeping across that face, just below the artifice of the mask, you can watch movements of rage, contempt, the sneer of cold command, all the forces of social death, and a pallid utter isolation.
12/ And 40% of us are cheering the mask on. “So Authentic!”
13/ Down in hell, the imps cackle at their master’s victory over liberty and justice. Here in America, their acolytes are obediently dismantling democracy, gloating in their wealth, wrecking our children’s future, dishonoring our ancestors’ valor, stealing an election.
14/ No, by God. NO! Let it not be said of a single one of us that we passively observed and quietly lamented the eclipse of the United States of America.
15/ Whatever it takes, we have to ensure a free and fair election. We CAN control our vote. If the election gets actually corrupted so that this mask gains yet more power, then we enter darkness. Vote It Out!
