Because it requires a greater land area per kg of food than any other form of food production, it is uniquely damaging to wildlife and habitats.
But by definition, extensive production requires more land per kilo of produce. If everyone now eating intensively-reared meat switched to pasture-fed, we would need another planet or two.
The answer? Stop eating meat and dairy altogether
