USPS is warning FL and most other states that they may be overburdened with mail ballots come November.
We mailed 99 mock #VoteByMail ballots from mailboxes across Palm Beach County to see how long they took to get to our mock Supervisor of Elections Office.
What we found:

We started with 100 (lost 1 before hitting the mail). Each was exact size and approximate weight of a mail ballot.
More than 90% of mock ballots we mailed returned to our mock Supervisor of Elections Office in 3 days or less.
Not a single mock ballot was lost in the mail.

There were some outliers— like mock ballots that were mailed from the same mailbox on the same day but came back days apart.
One came back 4 days after the mock ballots it was mailed alongside.

Of course, we couldn’t control for a few things:
- our mock ballots obviously don’t have the official markings of real ballots and could have been treated differently by mail carriers
- the general volume of mail may be much bigger come November

But, the experiment does give us sound insight into how long it could take your ballot to get to the Supervisor of Elections Office.
And we found that, no matter which part of the county they were mailed from, our mock ballots took largely between 2-3 days.
