Yesterday’s #rollingblackouts in CA were utterly preventable. We don’t need new technology or taxpayer subsidies. And we can actually *pay* utility customers to solve the problem. @ohmconnect can have 600MW online and ready by next summer. A short thread. 1/7

When dispatched by @California_ISO, @ohmconnect’s 150,000 customers currently reduce demand in California by over 150MW, equivalent to three natural gas peaker power plants. Last year, we paid over $3 million to our Californian customers. 2/7

OhmConnect pays customers to make specific, measurable, and predictable demand reductions at key times, like during #OhmHours. Ohm also directly (and quietly) adjust the energy used by over 50,000 appliances and devices in homes. 3/7

OhmConnect gets paid to reduce demand in exactly the same way that a fossil fuel plant gets paid to generate. Ohm’s resources are approved by the @californiapuc and are bid directly into the @California_ISO everyday, just like power plants. 4/7

@ohmconnect will pledge to sign up half a million new customers before next summer. All we need is encouragement and regulatory stability from @californiapuc, @CalEnergy, and @California_ISO. 5/7

The result: Instead of rolling blackouts, @ohmconnect will pay Californians over $12 million to adjust their energy use when needed. And during #FlexAlerts, we will be ready to reduce demand automatically -- preventing the need for blackouts. 6/7

Monday update: @ohmconnect users were amazing on Friday. Data shows big, sustained reductions over multiple hours across CA. I'll share data soon. In the meantime, we are asking our users to step up again today and tomorrow. Hang in there! CA needs you!

On on a person note, I crushed my #OhmHour goal on Friday and made $21.77!

During Friday's #FlexAlert, @ohmconnect successfully reduced CA electricity demand well over 200MW. We paid our users over $300,000 for their help! Another @flexalert today. Keep up the great work! We'll get through this!
