On the DHS front, I’d just add that the department’s two top officials—Chad Wolf & Ken Cuccinelli—have been found to be serving *illegally* in so-called “active roles.” I.e. they haven’t been confirmed by Senate, & the path they’ve taken to their current roles violates dept rules
That’s one HUGE reason why Trump has been able to weaponize the dept: its own leaders put his personal & campaign politics ahead of the institutional needs of DHS. And they’re not accountable to anyone in the process. Unless, of course, Senate Republicans were to do something...
