Many of you who don't even live here applauded the election of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot very loudly bc she was a gay Black woman and that was presumed to be a win, even as people like me and Black youth organizers warned you she would be a nightmare. Pls learn from this.
Y'all shaped her identity into a win for diversity even as queer BlPOC told you she would hurt us. And now, as the violence of her cops against protesters hits historic heights, will y'all make as much noise for the people being beaten by CPD as you did when Lightfoot won? Pls?
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot never deserved your support, and the people who do deserve it are being subjected to terror, brutality & incarceration in the age of COVID-19. Pls, make some noise and tell Chicago's mayor that her cops won't beat and gas their way out of this mess.

I see ppl saying we need to be ready to "get in the streets" over Trump obstructing the election, and I agree, but I think we need more specificity. There's a notion some ppl have that simply pumping a lot of ppl into the streets for large marches, in of itself, makes change.
Large marches can be important, but they don't necessarily disrupt the system, and that's what will be needed to stop Trump. A whole lot of people who hate Trump taking an extended walk together will not have any impact unless that walk is actually part of shutting shit down.
We're not talking about big permitted marches that simply "make a statement" or "raise awareness." If you want to march to halt someone's governance, you need to make clear that the machine will not run if they are in charge -- like marching in the context of a general strike.

Some Biden supporters don't seem to understand that grumbling & critique are gonna be part of some folks' process. Some ppl have serious issues w this ticket, so they are going to talk about that & they will talk about their vote differently than you do. Stop being cops about it.
Demanding people's votes unconditionally & telling them to shut up about their feelings in the meantime obviously isn't good organizing. It does not to persuade, it does not mobilize & it breeds contempt. Some people are gonna relate to this differently & you have to accept that.
Biden is a shitty candidate. He's gonna need the support of a grumbling portion of the electorate, so let them be. Also, trying to silence people's negative feelings about Biden/Harris one tweet at a time might be the worst possible expenditure of your time cost/benefit wise.
