A rant on the USA Election. If you’re uninterested you know what to do.

zerohedge.com/political/aoc-…

As we move closer to November, it’s somewhat non-controversial to say this USA election is the most divisive in living memory. I at least can’t recall one as divisive. 1/34
Reasons are obvious but I want to point out one reason that isn’t obvious, it’s the “NEVER TALK ABOUT…” rule.

I’ve in the past alluded to this - the opening of Pandora’s box in the 2016 USA election. 2/34
Few have picked up on it, so to save some 150 million or so American voters some angst, it’s worth surfacing. Here’s the QUESTION:

Who’s hacking the USA election?

This is the pandora’s box of USA democracy . Let me explain by a slightly tangential journey. On the one hand, America exports democracy like religion, values, Hollywood, goodness and apple pie. With an unimpeachable reputation between 1945 and 1990.

But OTOH… 4/34
…in the world championship for election interference there is really only one champion - the CIA. Research has placed this at 81 times since WWII, which makes them busy little beavers, more interventions than years!

Just so we all understand that hacking elections is routine business for the USA - the CIA routinely interfere with elections around the world. They started when they were formed and they haven’t stopped. 6/34
But we (you) don’t really care about the *world* of democracy, apparently. What we care about is *American* democracy, that which civics classes care about, teach about. Hollywood, apple pie and all that. 7/34
This is a different championship, and it’s fair to say that the CIA has only intervened a few times, along with others in the IC (Intelligence Community) and the military - about 5 since WWII say some of the conspiracy theorists. Relative amateurs, we guess. 8/34
(It’s also fair to say that whatever Cambridge Analytica and friends were up to over the recent years, they got away with it, it was covered up. And they are only a last decade phenomena. We can ignore them. Which leaves only two contenders for the trophy…) 9/34
These two are the clear leaders because they interfere in the elections on a routine basis, every election every time every which way. You might be surprised at this, but it’s something that insiders already know and at the same time refuse to know. 10/34
Let’s get it out there.

The numbers one and two interferers with the USA democratic process are: the republican party and the democratic party.

Not necessarily in that order, so hereafter called the parties. 11/34
(think about it a little, it makes no diff what the order is, at the meta level. Once one is doing it, the other has to follow suit.)

Every election is interfered with to the max that they can get away with, without it spilling out.

No holds bared. No prisoners taken. 12/34
How’s this possible?

So at this stage you’re probably wondering how this can be true - what a crazy conspiracy theory, right? Who’s this schmuk, right?

Yep, that’s how I felt when I first heard about it 20 years back. So I asked, how’s that? 13/34
Why no national scandal? Why no journey? Where’s Woodward and Bernstein?

It’s possible because there is one more element in the mix. This is game theory. This is the culture.

This element is this: 14/34
The unwritten rule of the parties is that

NOBODY TALKS ABOUT HACKING THE ELECTION.

Nobody, never, ever talks about the dirty deeds, the done dirt cheapening of the democratic process.

15/34
If you show moral fibre, if you ask too many questions, if you don’t support your team (hacking) against the other team (also hacking), you’re not loyal. You’re out. Buried. Hounded. Heaven forbid you’ve actual evidence of it, bc heaven is where you’re not heading. 16/34
Hacking the election is a taboo topic. And it works!

America is all apple pie, motherhood and democracy. If nobody ever mentions the ugly deviant truth, then it dunna exist. And this worked until…

Well, it is what it is, the rule is the RULE. Until someone broke the rule 17/34
So when someone in authority mentioned that the 2016 election had been hacked, there was … surprise all round. Shock even, how could this be so?

Who dares BREAK THE RULE!!!

18/34
Someone got hacked, but that part was irrelevant, bc remember, NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT THE ELECTION BEING HACKED.

What was relevant was that someone felt the need to cover up some scandal or other. So how do we cover up a good scandal? 19/34
We divert attention. We pick a target - someone to distract. And what better target to pick than someone who can’t fight back.

Someone foreign, someone untrusted, someone ugly, someone everyone loves to hate…

And so Russiagate was born. 20/34
Now, 4 years later, the evidence is pretty clear that whatever skulduggery the Russians were up to, it wasn’t that.

William Binney and his ex-intel analyst team put the kibosh on that -

1. the evidence doesn’t exist to pin the Russians,
2. what evidence exists points to an inside attack,
3. Wikileaks said not Russian, not hacker,
4. circumstantially, it didn’t smell like the Ruskies.

22/34
So if you still believe in Russiagate, then let it be known - you bought into a disinformation campaign, hook line and sinker - all the DNC’s men put Humpty Dumpty back together again and made him look like Putin.

But that’s totally utterly unimportant, politics as usual. 23/34
What is more disturbing than the truth whether Russians or Fresians or Martians is this: the unwritten rule was broken.

When Hillary Clinton shifted the blame for the loss of emails across to the Russians, she broke the unwritten rule: NEVER TALK ABOUT HACKING THE ELECTION 24/34
The consequences of this breach are thick on the ground.

As Americans head into 2020, for the last 3.5 years Americans have been fed this angry diet of bad (foreign) people hacking our election. Russians! Chinese! Evil bastards! and and and … 25/34
2016, Americans knew they were a beacon of truth, the pride of the entire golden democratic world, back to the Rome, Athens.

After 2016, everyone everywhere … knows that the election, the democracy, is being hacked as any seedy tinpot banana republic. 26/34
A seed planted, sprouted. Belarus, we are become you, brothers. Americans are no longer special. “Our democracy” is no longer unimpeachable. Our election was hacked.

In short, the taboo is broken. What is the actual, actionable import of this? 27/34
1. Everyone in USA knows the election is being hacked.
2. Everyone is going to be talking about WHO is hacking the election.
3. NOBODY knows who is hacking the elections. Yet. Approximately.

See the problem? 28/34
Remember, the parties hack the election every which way they can (I claim, and I knew it back in early 2000s. Do your own research).

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? You’re looking at a problem bigger than BLM, once this gets out. 29/34
I personally think that the American people will do everything possible to blame anyone else but Americans for hacking the election, and furiously ignore every rumour, conspiracy theory, scurrilous disinformation campaign that comes.

But at some stage this dam will burst. 30/34
If it doesn’t happen before November, 2020 is just going to be ugly.

If the dam bursts before then, it’s going to be red. Blood in the streets red.

The purpose of elections is to let the people choose - and if the people can’t choose, then what else they gonna do? 31/34
We stoopid furriners don’t have much of a dog in this fight. Mostly we’d just ask y’all to stop with the wars, drones, hacking OUR elections, economic sanctions. We’re aghast at your choices, but they’re your choices, right?

Unless they’re not. Think about that, ok? 32/34
And it all goes back to 2016 and a stupid decision to run private servers and break the law and a stupid decision to cover up this stupid error with a stupid disinformation campaign that broke the unwritten law.

NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT HACKING THE ELECTION

33/34
Oops, broke that, she did.

On that note, enjoy your election, and remember, in this and every other election, you get the politicians you deserve. 34/34
