Perhaps you already know or perhaps this is your first time seeing this. This is a map of the current transit coverage in SE Michigan. As you can see, we need more than an autonomous lane connecting Ann Arbor to Detroit. (Map by @RTAmichigan)
We need improved passenger rail service that connects the whole region and is more frequent than Amtrak. (Image by @RTAmichigan)
We need direct bus routes to the airport from major cities like Ann Arbor, Novi, Troy, Clinton Township and Detroit. *We should include downriver too. (Image by @RTAmichigan)
We need more rapid bus routes. Data shows that when buses run more frequently, more people ride them. The FAST Woodward, Gratiot & Michigan buses are a great start. More funding would fund more of these routes. (Image by @RTAmichigan).
For more information about the Regional Transit Authority's 2045 Regional Master Transit Plan Development, check out this presentation. I wonder how it will compare to MDOT's 2045 vision for the region? rtamichigan.org/wp-content/upl…

I know that Detroit’s been the Motor City for over 100 years now but 157 years of continuous public transit is nothing to scoff at. I wish there was more public transit merch in Detroit.
Headed to @WinterBlast from Warren & Woodward on the SMART FAST bus. Plenty of parking on Warren across from @waynestate.
Woo hoo! We’re in the transit only lane speeding past @LCArena_Detroit. Quick trip downtown.
The FAST bus normally detours around Campus Martius, which is currently closed to traffic for @WinterBlast, so we’ll get dropped off at Woodward & Larned, not far from the end of the zip line.
Activated my first DART pass! Its good for up to 4 hours of unlimited rides & transfers. I’m headed home from a meeting in @MidtownDetroit on @smartbusorg FAST route #461 & will transfer to #710-9 Mile in @FerndaleMich. #DetroitTransitRider
There’s about 25 people on this bus including a young couple from Russia.
Heading east on SMART #710-9 Mile at 5pm on a Saturday. There are 15 people on this bus. Who says no one rides the bus in the suburbs?
