FL COVID-19 update (1/5):

Florida is reporting the lowest # of cases – 2,760 – since mid-June
(2/5): Emergency Room visits for COVID-like illness are down more than 60% from July 7th
(3/5): Hospital admissions for COVID are down 60% since July 21st
(4/5): The number of COVID-positive patients currently hospitalized is down almost 40% since July 21st
(5/5): 26.4% of all hospital beds are available; 23% of ICU beds are also available. The pre-pandemic percentages were 12.6% of beds with 9.3% of ICU beds available.

FL COVID-19 Update (1/5): Antibody testing from FL’s drive thru sites has ranged from 20.3% to 26.8% positive over the past 5 days. Diagnostic PCR tests have come back positive at a rate of 8.22% or less over the past 5 days on a statewide basis.
(2/5): Point-of-care diagnostic testing at the Hard Rock Stadium site in Miami-Dade has seen a positivity range between 6.28% and 10% over the past week.
(3/5): COVID-positive patients in FL hospitals declined by 72 patients yesterday. The total COVID census represents less than 10% of all licensed FL hospital beds. 26.4% of beds are empty.

Today, I am pleased to announce my budget recommendation for Fiscal Year 2020-2021. The Bolder, Brighter, Better Future budget of $91.4 billion represents a decrease in per capita spending and an increase in our state reserves.
To relieve Floridians’ tax burden, my budget proposes over $312 million in tax relief. This includes a $56 million 8-day Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, a $9 million 10-day Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday and property tax relief of $247.3 million.
I believe that all students in Florida should have the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. In K-12 public schools, my budget proposes an increase in per student funding of $7,979, or $302 per student.
