I’d argue that even Windows and Mac are still only “open” as a matter of serving legacy customers, and if they could, that door would be sealed shut very quickly
We already live in a de facto corporate surveillance soceity, where the cards are stacked against individual privacy and liberty, and completely closed systems will push that into overdrive. As always, we need balance, choices, alternatives. Fair competition.
