A damning finding in the GOP-led Senate Intel Cmte report on 2016 election:

“...Manafort's presence on the Campaign & proximity to Trump created opportunities for Russian intelligence services to exert influence over & acquire confidential information on the Trump Campaign”
More: “Cmte found evidence suggesting it was the 'intent of Campaign participants in June 9 2016 meeting, partic. Donald Trump Jr to receive derogatory info that would be of benefit to the Campaign from a source known@at least by Trump Jr to have connections to the Russian govt”
More: “...following the Campaign's tasking, Stone obtained info indicating that John Podesta would be a target of an upcoming release, prior to WikiLeaks releasing Podesta's emails on October 7. Stone then communicated this information to Trump & other senior Campaign officials.”

Americans, including GOP members of Congress, have an obligation to read this:

“The Cmte’s bipartisan Report found Paul Manafort, while he was Chmn ofthe Trump Campaign, was secretly communicating with a Russian intelligence officer with whom he discussed Campaign strategy..” 1/
2/ ..”and repeatedly shared internal Campaign polling data. This took place while the Russian intelligence operation to assist Trump was ongoing. Further, Manafort took steps to hide these communications & repeatedly lied to federal investigators, and his deputy on the Campaign”
3/ “..destroyed evidence of communications w/the Russian intel officer. The Cmte obtained some info suggesting the Russian intel officer w/whom Manafort had a longstanding relationship may have been connected to the GRU's hack-and-leak operation targeting the 2016 US election.”

The rapid escalation in US-China tensions is real and concerning and comes, as with all things Trump, the question: what is the end game?

To be clear, China is guilty of malign activities around the globe incl stealing IP, jailing Muslims, stifling dissent, cheating at trade. 1/
2/ The US under both Dem & GOP administrations was slow to address these malign activities, clinging to the hope that engagement would change China. It didn’t, which should have been clear far sooner.
3/ As with other Intl challenges - Russia, North Korea, Turkey - Trump believed he could singlehandedly change reality via his personal relationship with Xi, a hope he still seems to cling to.

But nowhere has that hope translated into concrete change.

Don’t miss this: After all the talk about the US military defying Trump’s demand to deploy regular troops, strikes me DHS has now provided virtually the same: federal agents in military camo carrying military weapons arresting protesters. And Trump plans to extend to other cities
2/ This follows a pattern with the administration and one that sets a disturbing precedent.

See wall funding. When Congress wouldn’t appropriate funds, he took money from the Pentagon budget.

Some lawmakers bristled, institutions objected, but it went on.
3/ And now having set the precedent of using militarized federal agents in Portland, Chicago and others cities appear to be next.
