Late Neocapital isn’t my favorite aesthetic either, but I hope folks realize that most federal climate policies (even if they include a huge social housing component) will erect a lot of buildings like this. It’s energy efficient, near transit, and it replaced an ex-Pizza Hut.
There are a lot of critiques of contemporary architecture that come down to “I wish labor was cheaper than materials, like it used to be, and not the other way around”
There are also a lot of critiques of contemporary architecture that come down to “We never seriously addressed residential segregation and any real-world change to urban life is poisoned by that,” which is very fair, tbh, but not necessarily inherent to tinted glass facades.
