Day 4/5 concussion thread:
Day 4 was similar to day 3 (low grade constant generalised headache) but day 5 is quite a bit better (only mild focal intermittent headache and fatigue already improving).
Settling into a pattern of limited morning tasks, afternoon nap and evening family time. Keeping up hydration and salt intake. Thanks for the suggestion for salt and vinegar chips, @ReflectingRehab. It was good until the kids ate them all! 😭 🤦‍♂️ 2/?
Saw my (new) GP yesterday. Really lovely - empathetic yet firm. Got a concussion clinic referral so hoping to hear from them in the next few days. Boy GP fees have really gone up! 😳
(Worth every penny though!)😉 3/?
Funny how you discover injuries you didn’t even know you have 5 days out from your traumatic brain injury. Today it was a new bruise on my R butt cheek. Not even sore. 🤷‍♂️ 4/?
Further analysis of my crash has shown where I went wrong. Pic A is what I was intending to do. Pic B is what I actually did, not seeing the gully on the edge of the run. Wearing sunglasses + a visor probably didn’t help due to lack of contrast. 5/?
2 things I’m missing most for now: my single malt collection and my running routine. I’ll keep away from the whisky for now but I’m hoping the concussion clinic physiotherapist can give me guidance in training my way to recovery. 6/?
I’m not one to push myself hard when running so I think I’ll manage with whatever limitations they put on me, but I’m really hoping to be fit for the Queenstown half marathon in November! It’s good to have a goal. Time will tell whether it is a realistic one. 7/?
Finally again, just another reminder for skiers/snowboarders in case you were not listening when I said it before...
