Federal prosecutors have charged Steve Bannon and 3 others with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Here's what we know so far. Bannon, along with Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato, and Timothy Shea (not the acting DEA administrator of the same name), led an online crowdfunding campaign called "We Build the Wall." It raised...more than $25 million.
They promised donors that every scent would be spent on "the wall" (deep breaths) but actually gave "hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kolfage, which he used to fund his lavish lifestyle."
Bannon, through a non-profit, took over $1 million, some of which he used for personal expenses. They routed money through shell entities, created fake invoices, and used "sham 'vendor' arrangements."
Kolfage is 38 and will appear today in Florida.
Bannon is 66 and will appear in New York.
Shea is 49 and will appear in Colorado.
Baldato is 56 and will also appear in Florida.
They are all economic nationalists and fans of excessive use of exclamation marks.

These crimes carry penalties of up to 20 years of incarceration. The government would also like to take as much of this money as possible.
