I stumbled across a cache of files from 2009 today, which I assumed had been deleted: Sketches for my abortive pre-Video Works project, which was going to be a series of illustrated A-Z blog-format reviews of NES games, featuring site mascots ToastyFrog and Yukiko. Here's 1943.
Soon after I began developing this, I stumbled across Chrontendo and realized video was a much better format for this sort of thing. Of course, I had no video skills whatsoever, so I abandoned the project altogether.

3D Adventures of WorldRunner:
I also realized that I didn't really have the time (and honestly the skill) to make these drawings anything better than sloppy sketches. Also, the site mascot thing was kind of a relic of a bygone era. I cut my losses.

Here's Castlevania ripoff 8 Eyes (or 8 Eye's, I guess):
The desire to create some sort of comprehensive overview didn't go away, but since @Chrontendo was covering Famicom/NES so skillfully, I decided I should ditch consoles and focus on my love for portables instead.

A Boy and His Blob:
I finally landed on a Chrontendo-style approach for Game Boy, in video form, eventually to be reworked into books featuring packaging photography. That last has proven to be the most foolish decision I've made since not buying Apple stock at $10 in ’97.

Life Force ripoff Abadox:
Anyway, I'm not dead yet. But this A-Z thing is. And this is as far as the sketches made it: Action 52.
This was a fun reminder of a road not traveled, but I'm 1000% percent happier to have waited and turned this into GB/NES Works. Video Works is incredibly fulfilling, and I intend to stick with it for as long as I'm physically able. Which is good, 'cause I've got a long way to go.
