Capitalism is a system that inherently & systematically rewards the absolute worst of humanity while punishing the best.

It’s a large part of why the most heartless & callous among us systematically rise to the top.
Capitalism punishes empathy & compassion while rewarding callousness & heartlessness.

The less you care about the effects of your actions on others, society & the environment, the more you profit from externalization.

The struggle against capitalism is quite literally a struggle for the liberation of our full potential & the realization of human fulfillment. Thread:

Alienation is among the most PERVASIVE sentiments in the US, felt across the ENTIRE political spectrum.

Yet few can identify it, let alone envision a less alienating world - mainly because the Left has failed to convey an accessible language of oppression... & liberation. 1/29
Alienation makes us feel like we don’t matter; like our voice doesn’t matter.

We feel like a feather floating in the wind, with each new direction at the whim of some external force.

Arguably the most INCREDIBLE aspect of humanity is that NOT ONLY can we understand our societal institutions, our place(s) within them and how they are affecting us but, incredibly:

We can CHANGE our societal institutions for the better.

Humans are a highly social species. And like many other highly social species, our evolutionary trajectory found advantage in our connecting with & looking out for one another.

Empathy was the evolutionary glue that bound us to one another. 2/25

As a social species, we seek to fulfill our needs & wants in relation with others, rather than in isolation.

And thus, we establish various *institutions* of economic, political, kinship, & community functions. 3/25

There is an exploding crisis in the US resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of lives’ potential cut short & immeasurable pain, suffering & oppression.

And then the COVID‑19 pandemic hit.

*Prior* to the pandemic & economic fallout virtually every mental health metric in the US was off the charts.

Suicide was at the highest level in decades (@CDCgov) with more Americans dying of suicide EVERY year, then in the ENTIRE Vietnam War. 2/30
‘Deaths of Despair,’ often linked to hopelessness, alienation & misery - including suicide, drug, & alcohol abuse-related deaths were at record highs.

Opioids, which numbs life’s pain & anxiety, are at crisis levels.

There are over 1M suicide attempts EVERY year in the US! 3/30
