On bifurcation and unification (-@LawrencePAnders). So 'bifurcation' is a organic transformation as well as process of development that takes place 'all over' in many forms. Physically, bifurcation is what trees and circulatory and nervous systems are doing, including the brain:
:'branching off', which is to say, 1 becoming 2, 2 becoming 4, 4 becoming 8--and so on, each generation always organically transforming itself into the next generation so that the end 'result' is a little bit of both generations.
Here and above are some pictures I created showing one process of bifurcation (that I of course made up), 'zooming out' to show just how quickly simple continuous and cumulative things like bifurcation can get complex, almost chaotic.
And here are some other pictures that show a 'tree' that you may see as just a part of a completely different yet similar organically transforming process development. The last picture also shows that unification may as well be understood as a kind of bifurcation_
_insofar, at least, that we keep in mind that in the 'real world' (which we've never left, btw), bifurcation as a continuous, cumulative, and complex process of development is never as abstract and formal and 'clean' as such images represent them. Which we know, by seeing trees_
_and circulatory systems and brains and the things brains create such as divided communities and divided languages and divided concepts--all of which follow more or less the same processes of development (because they all belong to physics)_
_but in such continuous and cumulative ways that we perceive maybe this (img1) or this (img2) or maybe even this (img3) but not necessarily that (img4). And 'that' is that this process is a cumulative process of physical being--matter and energy--organically transforming itself_
_into increasingly complex, yet still concrete and substantive, 'other' beings, whereby 'trans' means 'across' so that 'transform' in a sense means we are a form of being that in fact exists across entire generations, all the way back to the beginning of time.
The problem is, this world is so complex, we think about it really poorly, namely by simplifying the complexity, transforming the endless cumulativity in dichotomies and categories, and more or less 'halting' the continuous process so that it's static enough for us to understand.
But the continuous, cumulative, and complex process of development that is universal being keeps on going, whatever we do. So it is not only poorly conceived but poorly perceived of us to try to so categorically separate it into all of these ways.
Especially since, if you haven't noticed, most of us are preoccupied with creating categories that exclude other people, because dividing us 'endlessly' has been really really 'pragmatic' or 'instrumentally practical' for a very small number of people.
And I would say (as others have said) they have even gone so far as divide our own knowledge from our being, by dividing our reason from our senses, our rationality from our emotionality, our anxiety from our aggression, and our abilities from your needs_
_such that we are continuously fighting with each other even in our own heads, simply because we're unwilling or unable to believe that we're a part of the same world and can show each other what we're seeing--from our own perspectives--if we take the time to do that.
This is really the most telling image, because it shows not only our divided concepts of society, but our divided concepts of history, of evolution, and indeed of the origins of all being--which result from the fact that we seem able only to_
_see bifurcation from an abstract and formal--and therefore categorizing, dichotomizing--perspective, refusing even to acknowledge just how much our necessarily limited perspectives do in fact 'overlap', since we're necessarily seeing the same universe of reality.
I don't know about ya'll, but I am really tired of the endless debate that cumulates merely from our competitive, self-interested refusal to let go of our beliefs, which are just thoughts in our heads that we're convinced are true because our individual perspectives are limited.
Frankly, I think the only way forward is to stop endlessly dividing ourselves through debate--metaphorically throwing static categories at each other--and start unifying through discussion--talking about how our perspectives transform into concepts, and how we do this together.
