Growing up in the dusty streets of Chitungwiza in Zimbabwe.I attended primary school at Farai Primary School & further proceeded to Marlborough High School for my High School. My mama couldn’t afford University fees and so I could not proceed to Varsity.
Instead I looked for a job & got one as a back office clerk with ZB bank, the then Zimbank in the Harare Foreign department.I was responsible for the forex back office.I then moved to Kingdom Bank again as a back office clerk, returns and unpaiD & later I became a personal banker
I have always had a passion for IT but it is with Kingdom Bank that it grew and seemed possible and achievable. During this period, I was already enrolled to study for a CIS diploma and IOBZ Upon realizing the possibility of my IT dream, I further enrolled with McMaine School of
Computing for my first Diploma in Networking and PC engineering, and later obtained City and Guilds, as well as Telecommunications Engineering but since Econet was my employer of choice that never came to pass.I then moved to a mining company as Group information Systems officer
....where I was responsible for all in country’s IT infrastructure, security and applications. This was a role within a global team headed in Italy and it was at this time that I also enrolled with MSU for my first degree in IT.
I briefly joined World Vision International before moving to Head the IT department for the Corporate 24 Hospital Group, where I initiated and implemented their current Electronic Medical Records System.
In 2016, I moved to South Africa to pursue my Masters degree with the University of Cape Town. During this time I simultaneously obtained my Certified Information Security Manager and Certified Information Systems Security Manager certifications.
In South Africa, I have worked for the various sectors, Online Gaming, Media and Publishing, Municipalities, Retail and Mining. In these sectors I have held various positions ranging from Systems administration, IT Auditor and Cyber Security Specialist to name a few.
Going forward, I am exploring the Cloud engineering computing space with an emphasis and focus in Cloud security. I am also interested in the data privacy under POPIA and GDPR.
The moral of this background is to motivate and inspire the youth from all over the world to never give up on their dreams regardless of any financial constraints or other challenges that may come with their background. There are so many avenues to acquire education even without
...going to University straight after High School.
What matters the most is to have a teachable attitude and to grab every opportunity presented and climb through by putting in the work, consistently. All that matters is to have the will to achieve,
...having the will is far more valuable than having any resources.
We will continue this session but now moving on to basic Cyber Security stuff just to give an understanding on how a cyber attack is initiated and executed, this will help in securing your digital space.
Responding to enquiries on Cyber security study options, here are a few you can look at:
ISACA- isaca.org

CISSP- isc2.org/Certifications…

EC-Council- eccouncil.org/programs/certi…
One must decide and chose on which team within a Cybersecurity setup do you want to fit in.
I proudly sit in the purple team as i have exposure in both red and blue teaming.
Thank you for engaging today, it's been a busy day.

Cheers
