For 4+ years, On Deck has been a safe space for talented people to explore “what’s next” among a highly curated community of peers.
But starting something new doesn’t always have to mean starting a company. beondeck.com/post/odw1
Authors, essayists, bloggers, and newsletter writers are micro-entrepreneurs.
Beyond just producing great writing, they have to find and deeply understand their niche, market to readers, and grow towards their goals, whether generating revenue or building an audience.
If successful, earning the respect of your readers can be a wedge into building a community.
In turn, building a community can be a wedge into starting an amazing business.
ODW is an eight-week program inspired by the success of the On Deck Fellowship.
We will help groups of 150 writers find their way towards having a successful writing practice, and connect them with a lifelong community of other writers and peers.
We’ll help with accountability, editing, and distribution—everything writers need to grow their audience and improve their craft.
ODW Fellows can also engage with On Deck founder and angel fellows, leveraging the broader On Deck community for inspiration.
• Fireside chats and small group breakouts with world-class writers.
• Workshops with peers of similar skill level and desired cadence.
• 1:1 support for editing, distribution, and ideation with experts from the ODW team.
We’re excited to partner with @SubstackInc to power On Deck Writers.
Substack believes that writers, bloggers, thinkers, and creatives of every background should be able to pursue their curiosity, generating income directly from their own audiences.
"Zoom school" has had us all question the value of traditional education, leading to increased participation in bootcamps, online courses, and hands-on learning methods.
Now's the time for ambitious builders to craft their vision of the future of education.
But building alone in this space is difficult.
Regulatory hurdles, slow-moving incumbent organizations, and lack of access to institutional knowledge have slowed innovation. There has never been a location centralizing builders in the field — until now.

Since then, we've reached:

- 3500+ different fellows
- 90+ team members
When creating an online course, activating prior knowledge is the number one thing you need to know about your students to optimize the learning experience.
In this video, Andrew shares how to do this effectively.
Over Global Build Weekend, Nivi teamed up with 5 strangers and launched Yaya, a peer coaching platform for women which gained over 780 sign-ups in 36 hours.
@AThakkar interviewed Nivi and teammate Paula Hernandez Forero on the journey creating Yaya.
They cover Yaya's initial success and it's potential future but also about their childhoods, how they came to join @beondeck and even lucid dreaming 😴.
