Jason Beer QC adds historical context to the recommendation of a Special Procedure Inquest. [This is, unsurprisingly, long overdue.] #WTGW
(It's important to recognise how these 54 recommendations speak to the brutal experience of inquiries/inquests for bereaved families.)
Jason Beer QC hopes there is a more positive response to the Special Procedure Inquest than there has been to similar recommendations in previous reviews. #WTGW
Allison Munroe QC reiterates the importance of acting on these recommendations. [How many reviews will it take?] #WTGW
Veering into self promotion and stating the bleeding obvious right now unfortunately. Bit disappointing. #WTGW
Possibly don't have a QC barrister speaking about the experience of bereaved families.🤦♀️ #WTGW
If I hear another unpacking of what families want in terms of 'lessons learned' I'll eat my own fist with ladles of sriracha sauce. #WTGW
A year on a working party, producing a set of 'bold recommendations' after chewy/thorny discussion, and Ken Sutton talks this down at the launch. #WTGW
'I hope that's helpful', says Ken. Not really mate. I'd have hoped for more cutting insight drawing on your 40 years of experience. #WTGW
Question time and Sutton is back in the gloomy corner. Sir Robert Francis now has a question for the panel about therapeutic testimony. #WTGW
Sutton comes in with a 'not a direct answer to the question'... Jason Beer picks up the complexity around truth and reconciliation inquiries. #WTGW
Sutton back on the mike with (yet another pointless) mention of 'a national scandal'. [I'm not sure he's actually read the report.] #WTGW
Jodie Blackstock doing a grand job of adding informed layers of nuance and thoughtfulness to responses. #WTGW
The feelings of exclusion, frustration and total abandonment families feel when someone works in your name and not necessarily to your liking. Beer, QC #Rule10#WTGW
@DebatINQUEST raises the enduring injustice of the lack of funding for families. Sutton: 'it's the clearest example of what I call a national scandal'. #WTGW
Munroe, QC: Raises important issue around the next of kin. An abusive ex-partner can be a publicly funded 'next of kin' rather than family. #WTGW
Sir Robert Owen oozes sense, knowledge and wisdom. A treat to listen to his thoughts and views. #WTGW
Andrea Coomber, Justice Chair, wrapping up. Justice focus on procedural fairness. Procedure matters and is central to how justice is delivered. #WTGW
Public trust and confidence demand reform for what is agreed to be a national scandal. [Go Sutton.] #WTGW
Tonight is the beginning of the more challenging phase of the implementation of the review findings.👊 #WTGW

A short thread about an Uber driver who picked me up from the @PHMMcr exhibition tonight. [Can't get him out of my head.] 1.
There was a bit of confusion and we ended up with two extra Deaf passengers who were going in a kind of similar direction. 2.
The driver said that they weren’t allowed to pick up people without bookings, so they try and find a black cab or occasionally give the person a lift as 'a friend'. 3.
Well the exhibition is stunning. Superb work @PHMMcr and thank you @Aliswilde for thinking of the #JusticeforLB quilt. Close enough to see every detail.
