1/2 Reminder re: Falwell Jr.’s demise. The animating core of Xn Right was never sexual purity. Protecting white supremacy at Bob Jones U was its genesis. Wh Xn flight to GOP was fueled by defending segregation under guise of law & order.

@JRubinBlogger 3/3 By the time RNC apologized for the Southern Strategy in 2005 or pushed for a more humane immigration policy in its “autopsy report” after Romney’s 2012 defeat, the Southern Strategy was a runaway freight train that simply had too much momentum behind it to be easily derailed.
