Draft plan for re-opening MCPS schools: montgomeryschoolsmd.org/reopening/MCPS…. Highlights (thread):

* School will start Monday, Aug 31 with reduced class size
* MCPS will be virtual-only to start the year given current conditions
* Students will return on a rotational schedule by grade level, last name/address (see Phase 1-Phase 3 below)
* Once your grade is allowed to be in-school, they will follow a weekly rotation of 2 days in-person, 2 days at-home (high school schedule looks 😨)
* Students in specific special education programs and students new to a school level (Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th) are the first to return
* Buses limited to 12 passengers (families must request and priority given to elementary and middle school)

I acknowledge the challenges - (1) work schedules of parents and drop-off times. Maybe telework or shifted hours would allow parents to work and teens to sleep. /2
challenge (2) limited number of buses. This is a tough challenge - a huge puzzle to piece together. But the schools pieced together one, haven't changed it since. Isn't it a good time to refresh since we're all pressing restart? /3
