Dagestan means the "land of mountains" in Turkic, because the majority of its territory is covered with mountain ranges and valleys ✨🏔

Dagestan is unique due to a great variety of cultures and peoples. It’s Russia’s most ethnically divers republic with more than 30 ethnic groups.

📍Derbent is the oldest city in Russia with 5,000 years of history. The first mosque in Russia built 1300 years ago is located in the city’s heart.
