They represent the resistance to both the far right and the dogmatic woke left (e.g. Biden opposes defunding the police, repeatedly condemns violence and vandalism, and is more aligned with the Harper's letter signatories than say, Bernie)...
Having mainstream left-liberals in power will also help put the fringes back in the fringe. They'll take some good ideas from them (no doubt people like Bernie have made something like Medicare for All a mainstream Dem goal, for example), but it'll be a return to sanity.
