It's time for another edition of 10 Cool Things About Sylvia Fedoruk!
1. Syl was instrumental in rescuing Sask's cobalt bomb for posterity: first, mounted in the ceiling of the cancer clinic; now, a valued part of the @wdmtweets Western Development Museum collection in Saskatoon. 
2. In the 1960s, Syl's research shifted to early cancer detection. She and student Trevor Cradduck (@kestonboy) envisioned and built the rectilinear scanner in 1962 -- it scanned on a grid like plowing a field. Both table and scanner moved in synch.
3. In 1965, she and Trevor Cradduck imagined and built the scintillation camera. Its crystal was about the size of a dinner plate. The patient was injected with radiated dye, and scans/pictures were taken of internal organs. Think of these machines as forerunners to PET scans.
4. In 1961, the first Canadian ladies curling championship winning team was feted at the Saskatchewan legislature.
5. In addition to playoff curling, Syl curled on many bonspiel teams -- and they won. A lot. Here she is at a classic cash spiel.
6. When she became LG, her first First Minister (premier) was Grant Devine. They developed a warm collegial relationship that was sorely tested during the 1991 proroguing and special warrants crisis.
7. When she headed the board of the Centennial Auditorium in Saskatoon, she *loved* going to shows and meeting stars. @DollyParton had a huge fan in Syl!
8. She had her own fun on stage starring as the Housekeeper in The Mouse That Roared, a Regina fundraiser that used local celebrities as cast members. Syl, as LG, knew *all* the secrets.
9. Twice -- once when Chancellor, later as a government appointment -- Syl served on the Board of Directors of @usask.
10. She was awarded *three* major Canadian awards: Dame of the Order of St. John, Saskatchewan Order of Merit, and the Order of Canada.
