Conservatives will want to rethink student loan debt. Yes, people who go 100K in the hole for studying basket weaving are silly. No, that does not invalidate a real problem: Heavy debt is an obstacle to getting married and having babies. Civilizations need these things.
I wrote about this last year: "Why not propose amending BAPCPA to allow bankruptcy but call it 'loan forgiveness' (under certain circumstances for low income people who are unable to pay) and enact a restructuring of student loans so that colleges are on the hook."
