Many have asked me about this photo, and why I was out there in Kenosha in front of that gunman filming with no body armor or protection. It’s true, I’ve been going out to these scenes with little to no protection due to lack of funds. These things are not easy to cover- (thread)
I’ve lost close to $5000 over the last 2 months across multiple coverages. Robbed by a group of 6 masked men w/ guns in Portland for my equipment last month, car windows smashed & additional equipment stolen in Kenosha. Between that & just getting out to these scenes, big deficit
If you’ve appreciated the coverage so far & would like to help me in continuing this journey with actual protection, reporting the unbiased truth from the ground, I do have a Venmo, Cash App & PayPal for support - bgonthescene for all of those. I love y’all for sticking with me
I’ve always been hesitant about asking for financial help as this is NOT about money for me at all. I love what I do, I’m so grateful to even be out there to cover these things and share the truth with the world. This type of work is critical and I knew it needed to be done.
There are, however, elements I must be realistic on. I can only go so far with personally financing this, and am well aware situations are escalating. Witnessing what I did in Kenosha, seeing last night’s streams from Portland...this is dangerous work.
Seeing how dangerous it can be, up close and personal, has made me realize I may be severely underprotected in these situations. This is not casual work, and a t-shirt and sweatpants are insufficient for a riot zone (I already knew that, just couldn’t do anything about it before)
For that reason I am asking for your help. It’s been a long summer and there’s so much more to come. Any help can go a long way, and I’m truly grateful for the kind souls out there that have helped and supported thus far. You are amazing people, and I can’t thank you enough.

The ATF has published their “Stabilizing Braces” rule in the Federal Register, reclassifying pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles, subject to tighter regulation & federal registration. The rule sets a deadline of May 31st for compliance federalregister.gov/d/2023-01001
