The outro song I used (h/t to @AndyEyeballs for introducing me to Sarah and the Safe Word) got copyright flagged, but I like it too much to replace, so I'll be getting no ad revenue on that one.
To compensate, I'm throwing $100 of my own money at Critical Resistance next month.
"well-regulated capitalism" means having a law that says a business can't hire 13-year-olds to work machinery that can, will, and does mangle their limbs and break their bones, because we know it's what they'd do if they weren't prevented
"well-regulated capitalism" means having a law that says a business can't pay you in their own special currency you can only spend in company shops and prices are set such that you will build up an unpayable debt, because we know it's what they'd do if they weren't prevented
"well-regulated capitalism" means having a law that says a business can't knowingly let you drown, get poisoned, get crushed, asphyxiate, starve, or be sexually assaulted by your boss, because we know it's what they'd do if they weren't prevented
We can't enact policy the way Republicans do because that's authoritarianism, but we need to uphold the policies passed by authoritarians because that's democracy, and we have to vote for Democrats, but we can't expect them to do anything,
so we have to vote for blue dogs to get a majority, but the blue dogs are why our majority can't accomplish anything, and we need to hold the White House for Supreme Court appointments, but if Republicans have a Senate majority they won't let us appoint judges,
and we have to respect the rulings made by courts Republicans packed with stolen seats, and you can protest, but only in ways that don't put pressure on politicians, whose job is to negotiate with Republicans, whom we admit are authoritarians, but we can make incremental process,
seems like the folks saying the dems could do nothing to prevent this - couldn't appoint Garland, block Kavanaugh, pass an amendment - are saying democracy has failed utterly and the left is fucked without highly unlikely majorities
and they seem distressingly calm about it
weird that the people who, by all rights, should be rioting in the streets are, in fact, saying "get out of the streets, this is nbd"
"the left requires a supermajority to accomplish anything at all while the right enacts sweeping policy from the minority position, and also undoes all our progress every time they take power, which sounds pretty bad when I say it out loud but anyway let's get that supermajority"
been having A Time so I've blown off work for a couple days to play games where you shoot things
burned through the newer maps in the Prodeus alpha. game just keeps getting better. you can feel the influence of the modding community, as elements established in the earlier levels are remixed in new and unexpected ways.
then blew through the first episode of HROT. love the moodiness and the level design. the bagheads at the start of episode two make the funniest noise when they die.
