I'll be checking out this Harm Reduction Teach-In and March for the @DailyEmerald from Washington-Jefferson Park in #EugeneOregon starting at 7 p.m.
Of course I would stumble upon an outdoor rave
First speaker just reminded everyone that today is "National Overdose Awareness Day."
A training on how to administer NARCAN is starting
A speaker from Black Thistle Street Aid is up at mic talking about herbs
A apeaker is telling the crowd "unsettling facts about the criminalization of houselessness in Lane County."
*speaker
The speaker just said that during a recent conversation with an EPD officer, the officer said the pandemic was over and that those houseless had to leave [from where they were]"
About to start marching
The group of a few dozen is starting the march
A speaker from BIPOC Liberation Collective is at the mic and expressing the importance of anonymity and an acknowledgement that we are on Kalapuya land.
The shrine being wheeled around tonight
Speaker apologized for the heaviness of their speech.
Believe we will be marching again soon after a moment of silence.
Scratch that — a moment of joy.
Those gathered here are leaving some candles, signs and are chalking up the alleyway we are in.
Crowd is marching back
The event is ending in a few.
Consider this thread closed.
Update: the fire is out and everyone is sarcastically saying "thank you, fire department."
Rave continues

I'm not sure what's going on with this alternate universe but there's an awful lot of non-Black individuals using the n-word and claiming to be spokespeople for the Black community in the replies 😳😳
OHMYGOD. I didn't even see the now-deleted second part to the apology 😳
The ACLU of Oregon has released an alarming Call to Action regarding proposed accountability standards for cops within the state and how the process is being co-opted by law enforcement themselves.
"Oregon is trying to create accountability standards for cops; however, this process is being co-opted by police and their accomplices to shield bad cops."
Well I'm here at the corner of Garfield and 9th Place where houseless residents living in trailers were threatened early last night and told they would towed this morning.
Stop The Sweeps is here to aid.
I was here earlier this morning, too, when folks actually thought something was going to happen. Nothing did.
But now, at 9:45 a.m., EPD is present talking with one of the people here. Folks have been told they have until Monday before they'll be ticketed and forced to leave.
Wow. I've moved just a few blocks over to 8th and Grant where other RVs are being towed away.
I'm walking up to Tykeson Hall at UO for this teach-in about the CIA since they are, apparently, recruiting on campus this week.
Notably, I just learned today that the university's Center for Cyber Security and Privacy is sponsored by both the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security 😬
Signs that say "CIA Go Way" and "Fuck the CIA" rest against concrete ledges behind Tykeson Hall.
