#The supposed lazy Nigerian youth.
1.
I deliberately chose Hon. Rotimi Ameachi's facial expression because, it captures my facial expression when government says our youths are destroying Nigeria's image abroad...
Woke up this morning thinking about the image of Nigeria & Nigerians in the eyes of foreigners.
So pathetic how we have narrowed the image destroyers to a few "misguided" Nigerian youths abroad yet leaving the many thieving politicians who daily launder billions of foreign
currencies to safe havens leaving majority of Nigerians in lack.
We have left out those political thieves who have totally run our educational system aground. Our hospitals, both federal & state owned are nw mere dispensaries...extra judicial killing is now a daily occurrence
Politics has become safe havens for criminals and criminally minded individuals.. Our society has been reduced to a place where any opposition or contrary opinions attracts incarceration.
Thieving politicians are recycled. Many past governors are now senators trying hard to
avoid some level of prosecution and continue the looting spree.
Nepotism is everywhere.
How can I forget the rampaging herdsmen who kill, main and destroy anyone in their path unabated.
Miyetti Allah is another government on its own.(story for another another day)..
Our judiciary nko? This has become a huge joke.
What of the fight against insurgency? A small cartel is feeding large on funds meant to fight these armed bandits, yet, government of the day will have us believe they are fighting insurgency.
Look at the IDP camps in the North East...are the victims not better of dead? Politicians and their cronies are feeding large off people's misery and on Fridays and Sundays go to mosques and churches respectively for religious obligations..
Look at the rot in NNPC...contracts are awarded in their billions to cronies without bidding or due process. We have become a nation that imports what she has or can produce.
The power sector has become totally powerless with little or nothing to show for it.
Honestly, I pity those in the manufacturing sector. Cost of production is one of the highest in the world in a country where we have abundance.
A country where a few have the monopoly to import commodities we can locally produce...ofcourse, with government backing.
Nigerians cannot effectively compete with foreign investors because they are deliberately denied basic things to grow and are not strong enough to "settle".
Do we currently have an enabling environment for business? The answer is NO, yet politicians have created enabling
environment for corruption. Its common knowledge now that these current breed of politicians are spending a whooping N5b for exotic foreign cars, yet we have our own local INNOSEN producing lovely SUVs unpatronized.
While House of Rep members and senators go home monthly
with salaries enough to pay over 200 civil servants, they have other pecks of office to wet their thieving appetite all for BUSY DOING NOTHING.
Below is a breakdown of each Senator's largesse.
Basic Salary - N2.48m
Hardship Allowance? - N1.24m
Constituency Allowance - N4.97m
Furniture Allowance - N7.45m
Newspaper Allowance - N1.24m
Wardrobe Allowance - N621K
Recess Allowance - N248K
Accommodation - N4.97m
Utilities - N828K
DSTv a South African firm has become the best thing after sliced bread in Nigeria with their obsolete films.
They have become so empowered that any competition is mauled down into pieces even with government support, yet, government will only issue a statement whenever our citizens are murdered in their country(S.A) ...have we suddenly forgotten how we helped South Africans during
their war of emancipation?
Citizens pay tax, yet they provide for themselves, security, water, light, good roads etc while a few political office holders live in affluence and unmeasured good life from ill gotten wealth.
Well, all hopes shouldn't be lost.
We must be deliberate about STOPPING these thieving, insensitive people from getting a foothold.
Pray we must, but there's more to do than just adopt the SIDON LOOK approach waiting for things to change just because we wish so.
The nation of our dreams will never be realized with prayers alone, but also with conscientious efforts to change the status quo.
I come in peace
