Rodrigo full Interview [THREAD] @TheSquareBall

"I’m very happy [with the move to Leeds]. It’s the ideal moment to go to, like you say, an historic Premier League club with a great manager and a lot of good football people. I’m very happy and excited for this new chapter."
"I was with Orta having dinner before it all got completed and he’s a really genuine guy, really prepared. He way key to all of this, making sure it all went through. And then there’s Kiko, Pablo - there’s a good few of us [Spanish]! I'm not short of company!"
Q: Did you have any doubts [about coming to Leeds]? Did you have any offers on the table to tempt you otherwise?

"No. I had other offers but to be honest its not relevant to talk about them now; Leeds for me seemed like an interesting and tough challenge."
"I’ve always been clear in my movements: from Madrid to Benfica to Valencia and of course now. Due to the circumstances it was the right time to move on, to take on a new challenge and go back to the PL which is something exciting for me."
"Everyone knows how the football is over there, they live it a different way. And its like you say, I’m going to a big club that’s back in the Premier League with a great manager - which I have to say is something that motivated me a lot."
Q: Have you spoken to Bielsa yet?

"No, not yet. As you know with all the quarantine between the UK and Spain I was there [in Leeds] on Tuesday and now I’m back in Spain."
Q: You sent a subliminal message to the Valencia board and fans at your press conference [with the national team] yesterday. You were sure you were leaving.

"That’s football. I’m not bitter because I know that I just dedicate myself to the football..."
"I know that cycles start and finish, nothing is forever in life and in football even less so. I’ve always performed and acted in the best way possible and and independent of the circumstances I’ve always been professional and tried to perform."
"The truth is I’m very happy and thankful to Valencia. I hope they return to the top and I hope we can see that connection between the fans and city once again."

He says that when he returns to Leeds he won’t have to quarantine and that’s why the transfer was done so quickly.
On playing against Liverpool:

"We know how competitive the league is, how good the teams are. I think with La Liga it’s the best in the world; maybe the PL is slightly more competitive, just with the huge amount of top teams in there. Every game is going to be difficult."
Goes on to talk about Messi, Spain and playing the PlayStation/board games online instead of in a group. The clear thing is that he is a lovely guy, very focussed and very excited to play for Leeds.
