This not the first time Joe Biden has relied on scripted answers to get through an interview or friendly conversation.

During the same conversation, he struggled without the teleprompter and finally asked staff to "put that back on."

Here, Biden struggled to read talking points from his notes and lost his train of thought.
Joe Biden had to look down at his notes to remember "testing, tracing, and treatment."

During an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Biden had to look down at his notes to remember what he was talking about.

When he was asked about Tara Reade accusing him of sexual assault, Biden had to rely on his notes to say "every woman has a right to be heard."

Joe Biden appeared to read prepared answers to questions in MSNBC interview.
