Maharashtra Chief Election Officer S Chockalingam has stated that they are ready to conduct elections with ballot papers in some constituencies.

WHY you ask? Let me explain 🧵

It all has to do with Maratha leader Jarange Patil and max no. of candidates EVM machines can accommodate.

Jarange has declared that his supporters will fill hundreds of forms for Lok Sabha Election 2024 from each constituency.

However, each constituency can have up to only 384 candidates for EVMs to function.

So, the Election Commission is in a fix. The Collector of Dharashiv had written to EC asking for advice if they get flooded with hundreds of candidates forms.

The whole Electoral Bond saga may be murkier than we thought. Let me break it down. 🧵

What the CJI is saying is that the link between purchaser & beneficiary party need not be direct.

For eg: A buys the bond. Gives/Sells/trades it to B. B then give it to C. C finally gives it to the party 'P' which encashes it.

From the SBI data all we can get is name of A and P. This means that any number of 'middlemen' could have been involved we would never know.

A, the purchaser company might only have been used to buy these bonds as they have KYC accounts. In this case the middlemen/original financier would remain completely anonymous as the bond is simply passed hand to hand without any record.

This gang of scums was apprehended by Delhi police for selling fake chemotherapy injections to cancer patients. 🧵

They filled empty injection bottles with anti fungal medicine worth ₹ 100. Then this injection was sold for ₹ 1 to 3 lakh to chemo patients.

Two of them are pharmacists in a renowned cancer hospital in Delhi. This duo would sell empty original injection bottles to the gang who then refilled it with the anti-fungal medicine.

Another is an IIT (BHU) grad who ran his own chemist shop and also sold these fake injections in Bihar, Delhi-NCR and Pune.

In the last 2 years this gang sold around 7000 such fake injections.

You might find this 🧵 'boring'. But I want you to read it anyhow. Because it really matters.

1. In the last 7 yrs India's workforce has aged so much that the share of 45+ people has gone from 1/3 to 1/2 of total now.

2. In the same period Youth Population (15-29) grew by 2.64 crore. However, the number of Employed youth fell by a staggering 3.24 crore.

In 2016-17, 10.34 cr people under the age of 30 were in the workforce. By 2022-23, this number had fallen by over 3 crs to just 7.1 cr.

3. India is witnessing rising levels of youth unemployment in the last few years.

This means a high percentage of the youth that joins the labour force - those looking for employment - fails to get employed.

A person named Vijay Patel claimed that his 'team' has prepared a report where they expose 40 fake news spread by @zoo_bear.

So I decided to go through this report myself and guess what? It is HILARIOUS. Read on to find out more about this 'Fact-check' report 🧵

Claim no. 1 is that Zubair made a false claim about Uttarakhand CM Roadshow.

But guess what? Zubair had only QTed News posted by NDTV. Apparently, NDTV posting fake news is Zubair's fault. He should be jailed for it. 😭

Claim no. 2: This "fact-check" says that Zubair 'claimed that the administration in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, beat up Kashmiri youth and threw away their belongings.'

They then explain how this is false & that the youth were not harassed for being muslims.

But Zubair never made that claim. He didn't say they were harassed for being Muslim or that their goods were thrown away. He only said they were slapped by the Police. 🤷‍♀️

Have you heard about the Boiling Frog Syndrome? 🧵

It serves as a poignant metaphor for the gradual erosion of citizens' rights to governmental authorities.

1. If you suddenly put a Frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out and escape. But what happens if you put it in normal water, then slowly bring it to simmer till it starts boiling?

The gradual rise makes it blind to change till it's too late. The frog cooks to death.

2. Similar to the unsuspecting frog placed in a slowly heating pot, citizens may inadvertently surrender their liberties through slow but steady changes in policies & laws. We keep ceding more and more space to those in power.
