I've been a volunteer for @onelifeng for a couple of months. A radio drama series was organised to address Sexual and Reproductive Health Issues, Sex, Sexuality, Rape, Domestic Violence, Abortion etc.

Sexuality is an integral part of an individual's life and identity. Despite this, sexuality and sexual health are often considered taboo subjects.

World Sexual Health Day attempts to change this by engaging youth, adults, educators, sexual health practitioners, nonprofit organizations, and government policy-makers in an open and earnest conversation about sex, sexuality, and sexual health. #WorldSexualHealthDay2020

One of the main aims of WSHD is to help people around the world recognize that sexual rights are basic human rights, and they are essential for peoples' well-being and for living a fulfilled life.

Since we will be discussing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, it is important we understand the concept of sexual health, reproductive health and the relationship between both. #SRHR #sexualrights #LoudWhispers

Sexual health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality. It requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships.

As well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence.

Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of reproductive disease and infirmity. #SRHR #sexualrights #loudwhispers

Adolescent and sexual reproductive health is the physical and emotional wellbeing of adolescents and this include their ability to remain free from unintended pregnancy, unsafe abortion, STIs, and other forms of sexual violence and coercion. #SRHR #sexualrights #LoudWhispers

To reduce the number of sexual and reproductive health and right related cases and enable a positive and respectful approach towards sexuality and sexual relationships, the sexual and reproductive health rights have been made available. #SRHR #sexualrights #loudwhispers

There are 16 sexual and reproductive health rights which were declared by an organization called The World Association for Sexual Health. These rights are grounded in universal human rights and pertain to sexuality. #SRHR #sexualrights #WorldSexualHealthDay2020 #loudwhispers

The sexual and reproductive rights apply to everyone irrespective of country, age and economic status. They are connected with adolescents’ health, gender equality, roles in improving the economy, environmental stability etc. #SRHR #sexualrights #LoudWhispers

One funny thing these adults do is they do not provide you with sexual health information that will help you make informed decisions while you are younger but expect that you should be able to know the right decisions to make when you’re older without the information

Please provide comprehensive sexuality education and help the young ones know their options of optimizing their sexual health and make them choose which is perfect for them. Everyone has the right to comprehensive sexuality education which is better provided as a child grows.

We join the rest of the world in commemorating the World Sexual Health Day (WSHD) which happens yearly on the 4th of September. The goal of the commemoration is to create awareness on sexual health across the globe. #WorldSexualHealthDay2020  #loudwhispers #SexualPleasureCovid

For us as an organization we have a project called the school connect project where we provide comprehensive sexuality education to adolescents and young people in secondary school and tutorial centres. #SRHR #WSHD2020 #loudwhispers

Before the pandemic we visited various educational centres every week for 1 hour 30 mins within a period of four weeks providing these young ones with information on their sexual rights, menstrual hygiene management, goal setting, abstinence, gender based violence etc

The highlight for us was usually the question and answer session where we provide answers to all their questions relating to their sexual and reproductive health. #SRHR #sexualrights #loudwhispers

Now with the event of the pandemic we have resorted to the use of online methods like engaging young people on their whatsapp groups. Your younger ones are not left out; you can invite us to speak with them. Just send us a DM. #SRHR #sexualrights #loudwhispers

The reproductive rights issues have provisions in the sexual and reproductive health rights. Everyone regardless of their age, class, social and economic status are covered by these 16 rights.

For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights must be respected, protected and fulfilled.
