The quarantine situation the prison system enforces is so chaotic that nor us, neither their close relatives, could reach them until Thursday evening. That’s ten days virtually incommunicated. It is only after talking to Roger that we can clarify that he is not on hunger strike.
What we know is that Roger conditions are atrocious: he’s in what can only be described as solitary confinement.
He’s being denied the right to food that fits with his moral values and principles -vegan food. Roger is only allowed out of his cell for forty minutes every two days, to wash, or into a patio. It took him seven days to get a pillow. He has no access to books.
We are not sure of what Diana’s conditions are, but we assume those to be also in breach of human rights. We will keep you updated.

To Roger Hallam, it would be great if you could send him a letter or postcard. Knowing Roger, he’ll be more than happy to receive it and, if allowed, to reply to it.

Diana’s hunger strike demands are:
1. That courts and judges accept the plea of necessity regarding the Climate and Ecological Emergency.
2. Doctors and health regulators, including the General Medical Council, accept their responsibility, including protecting public health regarding the Climate Emergency and the crises of equity. This responsibility goes above and beyond making statements.
3. Doctors and scientists, as well as other professionals, including lawyers, need to agree that the U.K. government cannot be left in place any longer.
She would like to add that:
- her protest is also about the making of weapons of mass destruction and the selling of offensive weapons, especially those affecting civilians.
- the government shows no understanding of the Climate Emergency and equity crises and the resulting migration of people -even now- in many parts of the world.
- sortition parliament and citizens assemblies are the most appropriate way forward, to start the immediate changes needed for our survival.
